Keith D. Williams

The former Wayne County Commissioner Keith D. Williams served the 6th District from 2003-2010. In 2009, he was elected Vice Chairman of the Wayne County Commission by his commission colleagues.

Born to the late Fredrick Williams, a community activist, and the late Leila Williams, Keith Williams was reared with compassion and concern for his friends and neighbors. His best friend is his loving wife Cathy Garrett, who serves as Wayne County Clerk. Commissioner Williams is also the proud father of Marlin Maxwell, a graduate of Central Michigan and the proud grandfather of a grandson named Keating C. Maxwell.

 

The former Commissioner is not only a product of the Detroit Public School System, but he’s one of its proud supporters. He graduated from Henry Ford School in 1974 and earned a degree from Eastern Michigan University. He was also president of the parent association of Cass Technical High School during the 2001-2002 school year.

 

Former Wayne County Commissioner Williams is the owner of Progressive Consulting Group of Detroit, LLC and the newly created non-profit called Courageous Inc. He has been successful in many business ventures and has opened the doors of opportunity for others.

 

 His willingness to work and strive for the best is some of the reasons why former Commissioner Keith D. Williams keeps supporting programs to help improve people’s lives in his old commission district.

 

The former Commissioner is a member of the Michigan Democratic Party, Crisps Attacks Lodge (Mason), past Precinct Delegate of the 14th Congressional District and member fo the Greater Emanuel Church of God in Christ. He continues to server his community on the Several Board, Shari House, Dexter Elmhurst, and the Board of Zoning Appeals in the Detroit and the Windmill Market board.

 

Former Commissioner Williams enjoys golfing, exercising, and interacting with people.

Accomplishments:

 

  • Created the “One Stop Shop”

  • Created a Senior Citizen Chore Program (SCCRP). The program shall refer persons to assist eligible seniors and provide reduced fees for light household services.

  • Over 7 years, $10,000,000 was allocated to the 6th District.

  • 43 houses were torn down in the year 2010

  • Created a training program for the Young Men In Transition who trained at risk kids.

 

Former Commissioner Williams will continue to meet with citizens in his former commission district and educate them about the political process because knowledge is the foundation of empowerment.

Laura Sigmon has more the two decades of senior corporate management experience with demonstrated abilities to anticipate and capitalize on market trends. She holds a MBA in Business Administration with special concentration on her undergraduate degree in Management and Organizational Development. She has strong management oversight as a change agent including strategic planning, human resource planning, operations improvement, budget/finance and sourcing. She launched her consulting firm Best Practices Consulting Services, LLC (BPCS) in 2008. It was designed to partner with small business seeking direction in strategic planning, business development, marketing, processs modeling and governmental contracting.

Meet Taylor Washington Courageous Inc. Program Manager- With an athletic background, coaching experiences, and passion for the youth and the community, Taylor is motivated and excited about bringing all of those experiences into this new role as program manager. She is confident that she will bring opportunities and experiences for the youth to grow, build, and succeed while creating and developing deep bonds within the community.
